OGHAM COLLECTION in Silver - Gold - Diamonds

This collection was inspired by the first known text discovered in Orkney. The Ogham writing that reads 'a blessing on the soul' was found on a whorl stone at Buckquoy, Birsay, approximately 500 AD.

Sheila's contemporary interpretation fused to produce an interesting blend of forms, texture, hidden words and messages. Ring design & brooch read 'A Blessing on the Soul'. It is interesting to note that the saying 'Bless You' has survived from Pictish times to this day.

Original whorl stone can be seen in the
Orkney Museum, Tankerness House - which reads:
'A blessing on the Soul of L' in Ogham.
When Oghams were incised on personal belongings, it
possibly bestowed a magical or talismanic dimension on them.
This is the first known written text discovered in Orkney to date.
